England Women delivered a dominant performance to defeat New Zealand Women by 9 wickets in the first WODI of the series at Bristol.

Opting to bat first, New Zealand struggled from the outset and were bowled out for a modest 156 runs. Despite a commendable 51-run knock from Brooke Halliday, the visitors' batting lineup faltered under the disciplined bowling of England. Charlie Dean and Sophie Ecclestone were the pick of the bowlers, taking 4 and 2 wickets respectively, ensuring regular breakthroughs.

In response, England's chase was nothing short of clinical. Tammy Beaumont and Maia Bouchier led the charge, scoring 76* and 67 runs respectively. Their aggressive approach saw England cruise to the target in just 21.2 overs. New Zealand’s bowlers found it difficult to defend the low total, with Brooke Halliday being the sole wicket-taker, dismissing Bouchier.

With this emphatic win, England take a 1-0 lead in the series. The second WODI is scheduled for Sunday, where New Zealand will look to bounce back and level the series. The hosts, however, will be keen to maintain their momentum and secure another victory. Stay tuned for more action as the series progresses.
