Heavy Showers Force No Result in Second T20I Between India and South Africa

CHENNAI: Heavy showers brought a premature end to the second T20I between India and South Africa in Chennai, resulting in a no result. This meant the three-match series remained at 1-0 in favor of the visitors, who now have an unassailable lead.

Put into bat by Indian captain Harmanpreet Kaur, South Africa showcased another impressive batting display. Laura Wolvaardt (22 off 12) started aggressively before falling to Pooja Vastrakar. Tazmin Brits (52 off 39) continued her stellar form with a crafty fifty, supported by Marizanne Kapp (22 off 12) and Anneke Bosch (40 off 32).

South Africa's batters maintained extreme intent, constantly pressuring India’s bowlers. Deepti Sharma (2-20) was the pick of the Indian bowlers but lacked support as runs flowed freely. The last two overs yielded 31 runs, propelling South Africa to 177/6.

Persistent rain after the innings break meant the game could not resume. India must now win the final T20I on Tuesday to avoid a home series defeat.

Brief Scores:  South Africa 177/6 in 20 overs (Tazmin Brits 52, Anneke Bosch 40; Deepti Sharma 2-20) vs India.
