Jayawickrama, 25, is accused of failing to report approaches for match-fixing during international matches and the 2021 Lanka Premier League. He allegedly did not inform the ICC Anti-Corruption Unit (ACU) about these approaches without delay, as required by the code.

  • 🎯 Specific Charges:
    • Failing to report match-fixing approaches.
    • Failing to report being asked to approach another player for fixing.
    • Obstructing the investigation by deleting evidence.

The specific breaches include Article 2.4.4 for failing to report details of a fixing approach in international matches, Article 2.4.4 for not reporting an approach to recruit another player for fixing during the Lanka Premier League, and Article 2.4.7 for obstructing the investigation by deleting related messages.

Jayawickrama has 14 days to respond to the charges. The ICC and Sri Lanka Cricket have agreed that the ICC will handle the investigation concerning both the international matches and the Lanka Premier League.

Jayawickrama, who has 15 international caps, last represented Sri Lanka in a T20I against Australia in 2022. The charges could have significant repercussions on his career.
