The ICC has announced that the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup 2024, initially set to be held in Bangladesh, will now take place in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) from 3 to 20 October

Due to travel advisories from various participating nations, the event had to be relocated, but Bangladesh will retain its hosting rights.

The tournament will be staged across two prominent UAE venues, Dubai and Sharjah. The UAE, with its state-of-the-art facilities, has become a key hub for international cricket, previously co-hosting the ICC Men’s T20 World Cup in 2021.

ICC Chief Executive Geoff Allardice expressed gratitude towards the Bangladesh Cricket Board for their efforts and thanked the Emirates Cricket Board for stepping in. He also acknowledged the support offered by Sri Lanka and Zimbabwe for hosting the event.

As the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup moves to the UAE, the country’s rising influence in cricket continues to grow, highlighted by the increasing competitiveness of both its men’s and women’s teams on the global stage.
