In an exciting announcement for cricket fans, Australia is set to tour Sri Lanka for a two-match Test series and a one-off One Day International (ODI) in January-February 2025. This tour will feature crucial matches as part of the ICC World Test Championship, with both Tests taking place in the picturesque city of Galle.

The Test series is scheduled to kick off on January 29, 2025, with the second Test commencing on February 6. These matches will provide both teams with an opportunity to enhance their standings in the World Test Championship, where Australia currently ranks second, while Sri Lanka sits in third place.

The ODI match, which is slated for February 13, will be played at a yet-to-be-determined venue. This fixture comes at a significant time as it falls just days before the Champions Trophy, where teams will be looking to finalize their strategies and form ahead of the tournament.

This tour marks Australia’s first Test series in Sri Lanka since June-July 2022, when the teams faced off in a closely contested two-match series that ended in a 1-1 draw. Australia claimed the first Test by 10 wickets, showcasing their dominance, but Sri Lanka bounced back in the second match with a remarkable innings victory, highlighting the competitive nature of cricket on the island.

The upcoming series is expected to draw significant interest, with both teams keen to assert their dominance in the longest format of the game and gain momentum ahead of the ODI Championship and subsequent tournaments.

As preparations begin, fans and players alike are eagerly anticipating what promises to be an exhilarating contest between two cricketing nations known for their rich history and passionate following.
