Bangladesh Announces T20 World Cup Squad: Lead by Shanto & Shakib add some experience

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) officially named its 15-man squad for the forthcoming ICC Men's T20 World Cup scheduled for the West Indies and the United States. Najmul Hossain Shanto, recently installed as captain across all formats, will spearhead the Tigers' World Cup campaign.

The selection committee prioritized a balanced composition, integrating experienced veterans with exciting young talent. The much-anticipated return of the iconic all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan significantly bolsters the squad. Shakib's wealth of experience and all-around skillset will be paramount, particularly following his recent recovery from injury. The batting line-up features established names like Litton Das, Soumya Sarkar, and Mahmudullah Riyad, who will provide stability alongside Shanto and the promising talent, Tawhid Hridoy.

The bowling attack promises potency and versatility. Mustafizur Rahman's experience adds control and variation, while the raw pace of Shoriful Islam and the all-round abilities of Shak Mahedi Hasan offer a dynamic edge. Taskin Ahmed, despite ongoing injury concerns, finds a place in the squad and will serve as Shanto's vice-captain.

Bangladesh faces a stern test in Group D, where they'll encounter South Africa, Sri Lanka, Netherlands, and Nepal. Their campaign kicks off on June 7th with a critical clash against Sri Lanka in Dallas.
