A stunning performance from New Zealand on the second day of the Test match has put India in a precarious position. The visitors, led by a brilliant bowling display from Mitchell Santner, have taken a commanding 301-run lead going into the third day.
India, resuming their first innings on 16/1, were hoping to build a competitive score. However, Santner had other plans. The Kiwi spinner ran through the Indian batting line-up, picking up seven wickets for just 53 runs. Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant, and Sarfaraz Khan were among the notable victims as India were bowled out for a paltry 156.
New Zealand, in their second innings, started cautiously but soon gained momentum. Tom Latham, in particular, played a brilliant innings, scoring 86 runs. The Kiwi batsmen capitalized on India's bowling woes, reaching 198/5 at stumps, with a massive lead of 301 runs.
The second day of the Test match has turned the tide in favor of New Zealand. India now face a daunting task to avoid an embarrassing series defeat. The third day promises to be a crucial one for the hosts, who will need to bat well and restrict New Zealand's lead to have any chance of a comeback.
