India Women secured a comprehensive 7-wicket victory against arch-rivals Pakistan in Dambulla.

Pakistan, opting to bat first, struggled from the outset, losing both openers within the first four overs to Pooja Vastrakar.  Despite attempts to accelerate, Pakistan continued to lose wickets at regular intervals. Sidra Ameen top-scored with 25 off 35 balls, while cameos from Fatima Sana (22* off 16) and Tuba Hassan (22 off 19) helped Pakistan reach 108 before being bundled out in the final over. Deepti Sharma was the standout bowler for India, claiming 3/20, while Vastrakar, Renuka Singh Thakur, and Shreyanka Patil took two wickets each.

Chasing a modest target of 109, the Indian openers got off to a brilliant start, Indian openers Shafali Verma (40) and Smriti Mandhana (45), cruising to 57/0 by the end of the powerplay. Although Syeda Aroob Shah dismissed both openers, it was too late to alter the outcome. India Women comfortably reached the target with 35 balls to spare, sealing a dominant victory.

This emphatic win highlights India's prowess and sets the tone for their campaign.
