South Africa has announced its 15-member squad for the upcoming Women's T20 World Cup, set to take place in the UAE from October 3 to 20.

The squad includes 18-year-old uncapped leg-spinner Seshnie Naidu, who has earned her place in the senior team based on impressive performances at the U19 and Emerging levels.

Laura Wolvaardt will lead the South African team for the first time in a World Cup, having taken over the captaincy from Sune Luus in August 2023. Luus, along with Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, and Chloe Tryon, bring a wealth of experience to the squad. Nadine de Klerk is also included, despite recovering from an Achilles injury.

The squad also features several young talents, including Ayanda Hlubi (20, right-arm pacer) and Annerie Dercksen (23, all-rounder).

"Laura has been exceptional as a leader, bringing a holistic approach to the team," said Clinton du Preez, CSA Proteas Women Convenor of Selectors. "She leads with respect and integrity, and we are excited to see her leadership and playing qualities shine at the World Cup."

Du Preez also expressed his confidence in Seshnie Naidu: "Seshnie has shown significant growth as a bowler within our camps, and we see her as an X-factor for the World Cup. She brings a unique element to our bowling attack, offering something different that could be pivotal."

South Africa will compete in Group B of the World Cup alongside England, Bangladesh, Scotland, and West Indies. Before heading to the UAE, they will play three T20Is against Pakistan in Multan from September 16-20.
