Day 1 of India-New Zealand 1st Test Called Off Due to Rain

15-minute early start tomorrow; sessions extended for 98 overs. / BCCI

The opening day of the 1st Test between India and New Zealand in Bengaluru was completely washed out due to persistent rain. Despite hopes of a delayed start, the rain’s stop-start nature and worsening conditions ultimately forced the day to be called off without a single ball bowled.

Officials had planned for play to resume if the rain stopped, but the installation of Hawk-Eye technology for DRS, which would take an additional 90 minutes, along with the continued downpour, justified the early decision.

Play is set to resume with a 15-minute early start tomorrow, with 98 overs scheduled, though weather forecasts remain uncertain.
