Australia's chief selector George Bailey confirmed that veteran batter David Warner will not be considered for the 2025 Champions Trophy despite Warner expressing interest in making a comeback. Warner's national career ended after Australia's exit from the T20 World Cup. While Warner hinted at availability for the Champions Trophy, Bailey clarified that the selectors had drawn a line regarding Warner's selection.

"Our understanding is that David is retired and should be commended on an incredible career across all three formats," Bailey stated. He acknowledged Warner's significant contributions to Australian cricket and emphasized that the team is transitioning to new players.

Bailey also mentioned that the doors to the national team remain open for players like Ashton Agar, Matthew Wade, Mitchell Starc, and Glenn Maxwell. The focus is on introducing younger talents like Jake Fraser-McGurk and Cooper Connolly.

Reflecting on Australia's T20 World Cup campaign, Bailey noted the need for incorporating younger players while maintaining a strong foundation. He praised Mitchell Marsh's leadership and expressed excitement for the upcoming home summer featuring India.
