Ricky Ponting has stepped down from his position as head coach of Delhi Capitals, the franchise announced on X on Saturday. The former Australian captain led the team for seven seasons starting in 2018.

Under Ponting's leadership, Delhi Capitals experienced some of their best seasons in the league, notably reaching the final in 2020 in the UAE. His tenure was marked by a focus on four core values: care, commitment, attitude, and effort.

"Dear Ricky, as you move on as our Head Coach, we find it incredibly hard to put this down in words," the franchise stated in an X post. "The four things you told us about in every huddle - care, commitment, attitude, and effort - they sum up our seven summers together."

The franchise expressed gratitude for Ponting's dedication, emphasizing his hands-on approach and commitment to player development. Ponting was known for being the first to arrive at training and the last to leave, always involved in strategic discussions and supporting the players.
