Sri Lanka Women kicked off their Women's Asia Cup campaign with a convincing 7-wicket win over Bangladesh Women, with 17 balls to spare.

After winning the toss, Bangladesh's captain Nigar Sultana Joty opted to bat first, but her team struggled early, losing four wickets for just 18 runs in the powerplay. Despite a valiant 48* from Nigar Sultana and a quick 25 from Shorna Akter, Bangladesh managed only 111/8 in their 20 overs. Udeshika Prabodhani and Inoshi Fernando led Sri Lanka's bowling with two wickets each.

In reply, Sri Lanka lost their skipper Chamari Athapaththu for 12, but Vishmi Gunaratne steadied the innings with a composed 51 off 48 balls, forming a crucial fifty partnership with Harshitha Madavi. Madavi contributed 33 off 31 balls, guiding the chase effectively. Kavisha Dilhari (12*) and Hasini Perera (1*) saw Sri Lanka home with ease.

Bangladesh's Nahida Akter was the standout bowler with three wickets, but lacked support from her teammates. Sri Lanka's impressive start sets a positive tone for their Women's Asia Cup journey.
