Groups and Fixtures Announced for U19 Women’s T20 World Cup 2025 in Malaysia

The International Cricket Council (ICC) has unveiled the groups and fixtures for the second edition of the ICC U19 Women’s T20 World Cup, set to take place in Malaysia from January 18 to February 2, 2025. Following the success of the inaugural tournament, the 2025 edition will feature 16 teams competing across four groups, with matches held in Kuala Lumpur, Johor, Sarawak, and other venues.

Group Breakdown:

• Group A: India, West Indies, Sri Lanka, Malaysia
• Group B: England, Pakistan, Ireland, USA
• Group C: New Zealand, South Africa, Africa Qualifier, Samoa
• Group D: Australia, Bangladesh, Asia Qualifier, Scotland

India, the reigning champions, will be in Group A alongside hosts Malaysia, the West Indies, and Sri Lanka. England, runners-up in the inaugural edition, find themselves in Group B with Ireland, Pakistan, and the USA. Group C features South Africa, New Zealand, new entrants Samoa, and an African qualifier. Group D is headlined by Australia, Bangladesh, Scotland, and an Asian qualifier.

Tournament Format:

Each team will play three group-stage matches in a round-robin format. The top three teams from each group will advance to the Super Six stage, where they will be divided into two groups based on their original groupings. Points, wins, and net run rates (NRR) from the group stage will carry over to the Super Six. Each team will then play two additional matches against teams from different groups but corresponding positions (e.g., A1 vs D2, B1 vs C2).

The top two teams from each Super Six group will qualify for the semi-finals, scheduled for January 31 at the Bayuemas Oval in Kuala Lumpur. The final will also be held at Bayuemas Oval on February 2, 2025.
