Australia and England will commemorate 150 years of Test cricket with a historic one-off Test match at the Melbourne Cricket Ground (MCG) in March 2027, where the two teams first met in 1877. This follows the centenary Test played at the same venue in 1977, which Australia won.

Cricket Australia has also confirmed that the annual Boxing Day and New Year's Tests will continue at the MCG and Sydney Cricket Ground (SCG) until the 2030-31 season. Additionally, Perth has been awarded hosting rights for the opening Test of the Australian summer for the next three years, marking a departure from Brisbane's Gabba.

The Adelaide Oval will host the Christmas Test, alternating between day and day-night formats, for the next seven years. "We are delighted to confirm long-term hosting rights... ensuring the best cricket will be played at the best venues," said CA CEO Nick Hockley.
