West Indies have announced their 15-member T20I squad for the upcoming three-match series against South Africa, starting August 24 in Trinidad. Rovman Powell will captain the team, which is notably missing key all-rounders Andre Russell and Jason Holder. Russell opted for rest, while Holder has been given a break after a demanding Test schedule.

Despite their absence, the squad remains strong with the inclusion of young talents like Alick Athanaze and Matthew Forde, both of whom impressed in recent outings. West Indies will look to build on their recent T20I successes, having won four of their last five bilateral series. However, they are eager to bounce back after missing the semi-finals in the ICC Men's T20 World Cup 2024.

Cricket West Indies’ Director of Cricket, Miles Bascombe, expressed confidence in the squad, emphasizing the importance of the series as the team prepares for the next T20 World Cup in 2026.

"Facing a strong South Africa side is an excellent opportunity for our team to reset and refocus with our game plan,"

"We have played them recently and had mixed results, so this should be an exciting and important series. I’m confident in the squad we’ve selected, and with eyes already on the next T20 World Cup in 2026, I know the guys will be keen to show their hunger for success."
