New Zealand all-rounder Melie Kerr has been ruled out of the ongoing ODI series against India after sustaining a left quadricep muscle tear during the first match in Ahmedabad.
Scans conducted on the morning following the match revealed a grade one tear, requiring approximately three weeks of recovery. Kerr will return to New Zealand on October 27th to commence rehabilitation.
WHITE FERNS head coach Ben Sawyer expressed disappointment at the injury news: “We’re really gutted for Melie. Injuries are always a challenging time for a player, and we know how disappointed she is to not be able to play these games. Melie is an integral part of this team, so we’ll certainly miss her but we’re wishing her a speedy recovery.”
New Zealand will not replace Kerr in the squad for the remaining matches of the series. The second ODI is scheduled for tomorrow, October 27th, at the Narendra Modi Stadium.
