In the highly anticipated BAN vs SA 1st TEST, South Africa leads Bangladesh by 34 runs after the first day's play at Dhaka. Bangladesh, having won the toss, opted to bat first on a challenging surface. However, they were bundled out for 106/10 in just 40.1 overs.
The Bangladeshi innings was marked by regular wicket-fall, with six wickets down in the first session itself. Wiaan Mulder was terrific with the new ball, claiming the first three wickets of the innings. The highest partnership of the innings, 26 runs for the 9th wicket, came between Nayeem Hasan and Taijul Islam. Mahmudul Hasan Joy, with 30 off 97, was the top scorer for Bangladesh.

Bangladesh fought back well in the afternoon session, with Taijul Islam picking up a five-wicket haul and becoming the 2nd Bangladeshi to reach the 200-wicket milestone in Tests.
At stumps, South Africa were 140/6, leading by 34 runs. Wiaan Mulder (17 off 31) and Kyle Verreynne (18 off 32) are the two unbeaten batters for the Proteas. The conditions are expected to get more challenging as the test match progresses, with the potential for more wickets to fall on Day 2.
