Kingston, Jamaica: The West Indies cricket team delivered a comprehensive performance to secure a convincing 16-run victory over South Africa in the second T20I, thereby clinching the three-match series with one game remaining.
Electing to bat first, the Windies openers provided a solid foundation despite the early dismissal of Johnson Charles. Captain Brandon King (36) and Kyle Mayers (32) set the tone with aggressive strokeplay during the powerplay. However, it was Roston Chase who emerged as the star of the show. His unbeaten knock of 67 runs from just 38 deliveries, studded with seven boundaries and two sixes, anchored the innings. Valuable contributions from Andre Fletcher (29) and Romario Shepherd (26) further bolstered the West Indies total, propelling them to a commanding 207/7 on the board.
While debutant Nqaba Peter impressed with two wickets for South Africa, the bowling attack, particularly Andile Phehlukwayo (51 runs conceded in 3 overs), struggled to contain the Windies' batsmen. Lungi Ngidi picked up a double in the final over, but the overall bowling performance left much to be desired for the Proteas.

South Africa's chase began brightly with a fluent opening partnership of 81 runs between Quinton de Kock and his partner. However, Akeal Hosein provided the crucial breakthrough for the Windies, dismissing the dangerous de Kock. The Proteas' middle order failed to capitalize on the strong start, succumbing to the pressure of the required run rate. West Indies' bowlers tightened their grip in the death overs, with Gudakesh Motie (3/22) leading the way with a disciplined spell.
