KARACHI: In the aftermath of Pakistan's disappointing T20 World Cup campaign in the USA, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has dismissed Wahab Riaz and Abdul Razzaq from their roles in the selection committee.

While the PCB has yet to confirm the decision officially, sources indicate an announcement is imminent.

Riaz and Razzaq were part of a seven-member committee responsible for selecting the squad for the ICC tournament. An internal PCB inquiry found discrepancies in their decisions, influenced by feedback from team management, including coach Gary Kirsten or Jason Gillespie, and captain Babar Azam. Additionally, Razzaq will be removed from the women's team selection panel.

Their participation in the World Championship of Legends in Birmingham, amidst Pakistan's struggles, has not been well-received. Former PCB head Ramiz Raja criticized their squad choices, particularly the recalls of Imad Wasim and Mohammad Amir.

Pakistan's World Cup performance included a shocking defeat to co-hosts USA and a close loss to India, leading to their early exit. India ultimately won the tournament in Bridgetown, Barbados.
