Bangladesh has suffered a setback ahead of their two-match Test series against Pakistan, with regular opener Mahmudul Hasan ruled out due to a groin injury.

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) has yet to announce a replacement. Mahmudul sustained the injury while fielding during the Bangladesh A team's game against Shaheens in Islamabad, where he scored 65 in the first innings. Despite the injury, he is expected to be rested for three weeks.

Wicketkeeper-batter Mushfiqur Rahim is also nursing a finger injury but remains optimistic about his participation in the opening Test in Rawalpindi, scheduled for August 21. The second Test will be held in Karachi from August 30.

Bangladesh arrived early in Pakistan to acclimatize to the conditions, following a three-day practice session in Lahore. Their preparation aims to counter any disruptions due to the ongoing political unrest in the country.
