Fatima Sana has been appointed as the new captain of Pakistan's 15-member squad for the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024, replacing Nida Dar.

The 22-year-old bowling all-rounder, who has taken 31 T20I wickets and scored 215 runs at a strike rate of over 100, steps into the leadership role after previously captaining Pakistan's Emerging and domestic teams. She notably led Pakistan to an ODI victory against New Zealand in December 2023.

The squad sees only one change from the recently concluded Women's Asia Cup, with right-handed batter Sadaf Shamas replacing wicketkeeper-batter Najiha Alvi, who will be a reserve player. Pakistan is grouped with Australia, India, New Zealand, and Sri Lanka in Group A of the tournament.
