India's veteran batter Shikhar Dhawan announced his retirement from all forms of cricket on Saturday, 24 August. The 38-year-old southpaw, known for his explosive batting and distinct moustache, shared the heartfelt decision on social media, marking the end of a remarkable 12-year international career.

Dhawan, who debuted for India in 2010, leaves behind a legacy that includes 34 Tests, 167 ODIs, and 68 T20Is, amassing 10,867 runs. He burst onto the scene in the 2004 ICC U19 Men's Cricket World Cup and made a memorable Test debut in 2013, scoring the fastest century by a debutant.

Reflecting on his journey, Dhawan expressed gratitude towards his coaches, family, teammates, and fans. He highlighted his pride in representing India and his peace in concluding his cricket journey.

A key figure in India's ODI lineup, Dhawan was instrumental in numerous tournaments, including the 2013 Champions Trophy. His last appearance in international cricket was in an ODI against Bangladesh in 2022, and he last played competitively in IPL 2024 as Punjab Kings' captain.
