England secured a dominant 190-run victory over Sri Lanka in the second Test at Lord's, securing an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series.

Atkinson Shines with Bat and Ball

Young Surrey seamer Gus Atkinson was the hero for England, claiming a five-wicket haul (5-62) to add to his maiden Test century in the first innings. His all-round performance proved instrumental in England's comfortable win.

Early Breakthroughs for England

Sri Lanka's chase of a mammoth 483-run target began with a stutter as they lost nightwatchman Prabath Jayasuriya cheaply. Dimuth Karunaratne (55) showed some resistance but fell just before lunch, leaving Sri Lanka at a precarious 136-4.

Dinesh Chandimal (58) provided a brief glimmer of hope with a brisk fifty, but his dismissal to Atkinson after a controversial DRS reprieve put Sri Lanka back on the back foot.

England Wrap Up Victory

Despite a defiant eighth-wicket stand between Dhananjaya de Silva (50) and Milan Rathnayake (43), England tightened their grip. Atkinson picked up three more wickets, including Rathnayake's scalp, to complete his five-for. Chris Woakes polished off the Sri Lankan tail, taking the final wicket of Lahiru Kumara to seal the win.

Looking Ahead to The Oval

With the series already in the bag, England will head to the final Test at The Oval, starting on September 6th, with their confidence sky-high. Sri Lanka, meanwhile, will be looking to salvage some pride in the dead rubber.
