Australia Women continued their dominance in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, registering a commanding 9-wicket win over Pakistan to extend their unbeaten run in the tournament to 14 matches.

Pakistan, struggling to stay alive in Group A, were bowled out for a paltry 82, leaving Australia with a modest target that was easily chased down by Alyssa Healy and Ellyse Perry.

Australia’s captain Alyssa Healy won the toss and opted to bowl first, and her bowlers responded with a clinical display.

Despite losing Tayla Vlaeminck to a shoulder injury in the first over, the defending champions didn’t miss a beat. Ashleigh Gardner led the bowling attack, finishing with excellent figures of 4/21. Annabel Sutherland and Georgia Wareham also chipped in with two wickets each, while Megan Schutt and Sophie Molineux picked up one apiece, restricting Pakistan to just 82 in 19.5 overs.

Pakistan’s batting lineup crumbled under pressure, with none of their players managing to score significantly. Their dismal performance left them needing a miracle to keep their slim hopes of reaching the semi-finals alive.

In response, Australia chased down the target with ease despite losing Beth Mooney early. Skipper Healy took charge, racing to 37 off 23 balls before a calf injury forced her to retire hurt. Ellyse Perry, steady as ever, remained unbeaten on 22 off 23 deliveries to guide Australia to victory in just 10.3 overs.

Australia’s comprehensive win not only cements their place at the top of Group A but also puts Pakistan in a precarious position, needing an unlikely set of results to progress to the next stage.
