Ireland Women have suffered a double injury blow ahead of their three-match One Day International series against Sri Lanka in Belfast.

Captain Laura Delany and batter Una Raymond-Hoey have both been ruled out due to injuries sustained during the recent T20I series.

Delany, who led Ireland to a historic first-ever T20I win against Sri Lanka on Tuesday, will miss the crucial ICC Women’s Championship matches after rolling her ankle in the field. Scans confirmed suspected ligament damage, forcing her to withdraw from the squad. Gaby Lewis has been named as the interim captain, with Orla Prendergast stepping in as vice-captain. Jane Maguire has been called up as Delany’s replacement.

Meanwhile, Raymond-Hoey, who suffered a low-grade muscle tear in Game 1 of the T20I series, has also been ruled out of the ODIs. Sarah Forbes will remain with the squad as cover.

Despite the setbacks, Ireland Women will be determined to build on their recent success as they prepare for the all-important ODI series.
