The Samson-Yadav duo added a monumental 173-run partnership for the second wicket, decimating Bangladesh's bowling attack. While both fell in quick succession, Hardik Pandya (47 off 18) and Riyan Parag (34 off 13) provided a stunning finish, adding 70 runs for the fourth wicket to push India close to the 300-run mark.
Bangladesh’s bowlers struggled, with Tanzim Hasan Sakib conceding 66 runs in his four overs, becoming the most expensive Bangladeshi bowler in T20I history. Taskin Ahmed, Mustafizur Rahman, and Mahmudullah Riyad took a wicket each but were unable to stem the Indian onslaught.
Bangladesh's Struggle in the Chase
Facing an enormous target of 298, Bangladesh’s hopes of a successful chase were dashed when debutant Mayank Yadav claimed a wicket on his very first ball. Litton Das (42 off 25) and Towhid Hridoy (63* off 42) offered some resistance, with Hridoy carrying his bat to score an impressive unbeaten half-century, but the visitors never looked in control, limping to 164/7 in their 20 overs.Bangladesh struggled in response, managing only 164/7 with Towhid Hridoy's unbeaten 63 being their top score. / Getty |
Ravi Bishnoi, making his return to the format, was the pick of India’s bowlers, finishing with 3/30, while Yadav took 2/30 on debut. Washington Sundar and Nitish Kumar Reddy also chipped in with a wicket each.
