In a landmark development, England’s women’s cricket team will play a Test match in the West Indies for the first time as part of the ICC’s new Future Tours Programme (FTP) for 2025-2029.

The new FTP cycle aims to bolster women’s Test cricket, with England set to play red-ball series against India, Australia, and South Africa as well. England captain Heather Knight, a strong advocate for more women’s Tests, welcomed the announcement as a step forward for the women’s game. This winter, England will conclude their current FTP cycle with Tests in South Africa and Australia.
Further highlights in the FTP include England’s first-ever women’s tour to Pakistan in 2027, which was postponed in 2021 over security concerns, and a dedicated August window for The Hundred. Zimbabwe has also been added to the FTP, while New Zealand’s White Ferns, despite recent T20 success, will have no Tests in the upcoming cycle.
