In a thrilling showdown at the Sheikh Zayed Stadium in Abu Dhabi, Scotland's women's cricket team made history by clinching their first-ever spot in the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup. Their comprehensive victory over Ireland in the semi-final of the T20 World Cup Qualifier 2024 marked a significant milestone for Scottish cricket, setting the stage for an exciting journey ahead.

Led by skipper Kathryn Bryce's stellar all-round performance, Scotland displayed exceptional skills to outplay Ireland and secure their ticket to the prestigious T20 World Cup later this year.

The match began with Ireland opting to bat first, only to face early setbacks as Bryce wreaked havoc with the ball. Her fiery spell in the initial overs saw key Irish batters, including captain Laura Delany and Amy Hunter, departing early, setting the tone for Scotland's dominance.

Despite a brief resurgence from Ireland's lower order, spearheaded by Leah Paul and Arlene Kelly, Scotland's disciplined bowling restricted Ireland to a respectable 110/9 in their allotted 20 overs.

Chasing a modest target, Scotland's Megan McColl provided a blazing start, laying the foundation with an aggressive batting display. Although Ireland managed to break partnerships at crucial intervals, Bryce's resilient batting alongside her sister ensured Scotland's smooth sail to victory.

This historic win not only marks Scotland's debut in the Women’s T20 World Cup but also reflects the team's determination and skill on the international stage. They join Sri Lanka as the qualifiers from the Abu Dhabi tournament, setting up an exciting clash in the final.

In a tense battle at the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup Qualifier, Sri Lanka held their nerve to clinch qualification for the upcoming T20 World Cup in Bangladesh. Facing a spirited challenge from hosts UAE, Sri Lanka defended their total of 149 runs to emerge victorious in the do-or-die clash.

Led by openers Vishmi Gunaratne and captain Chamari Athapaththu, Sri Lanka set a solid foundation with a 52-run partnership. Despite UAE's determined efforts, especially Esha Oza's blazing 66 off 44 balls, Sri Lanka's bowlers maintained control to restrict UAE to 134/7.

This hard-fought victory propels Sri Lanka into the T20 World Cup, where they will face Scotland in the Qualifier final. The thrilling contest highlighted the competitive spirit and skill of women's cricket, setting the stage for an exciting tournament ahead.
