South Africa Women's Gear Up for India Tour with ODI and Test Squad Announcement starting from 16 June

Cricket South Africa (CSA) has named their squads for the upcoming tour of India, starting on June 16th. Laura Wolvaardt will captain both the ODI and Test teams, leading a squad bolstered by the return of experienced all-rounder Nondumiso Shangase and wicket-keeper Route Badgers.

The three-match ODI series will be the first part of the tour, kicking off on June 16th and contributing valuable points to the 2022-25 ICC Women's Championship. A single Test match will follow, providing a stern test for the Proteas Women.

  • ODI: Laura Wolvaardt (c), Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits (subject to fitness), Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Mieke de Ridder, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Ayabonga Khaka, Masabata Klaas, Suné Luus, Eliz-Mari Marz, Nonkululeko Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukune, Nondumiso Shangase, Delmi Tucker.
  • Test: Laura Wolvaardt (c), Anneke Bosch, Tazmin Brits (subject to fitness), Nadine de Klerk, Annerie Dercksen, Mieke de Ridder, Sinalo Jafta, Marizanne Kapp, Masabata Klaas, Suné Luus, Eliz-Mari Marz, Nonkululeco Mlaba, Tumi Sekhukune, Nondumiso Shangase, Delmi Tucker.

Excitement for World Cup Preparation:

Proteas Women interim head coach Dillon Du Preez expressed the team's enthusiasm for the tour, highlighting its significance in preparing for the T20 World Cup later this year.

"Everyone's excited and looking forward to the tour to India," Du Preez said. "So far, preparation has been great. We had a big focus on options against spin and it was good to see the buy-in from the team."

"We also have new management involved, so this would be a great opportunity for them to find their feet before we come back and start our preparation for the [T20] World Cup," he added.

Looking Ahead:

The Proteas Women will gather for a pre-tour camp in Tshwane from June 4th to 8th before departing for India. The tour presents a challenging but valuable opportunity to test their skills against strong opposition and gain crucial momentum heading into the ICC Women's T20 World Cup 2024 in Bangladesh.
