South Africa Unveils Squad for West Indies T20 Series, Two New Faces Included / Getty Images

Cricket South Africa (CSA) today revealed the 15-member squad for the upcoming three-match T20 International series against the West Indies. The series is set to commence later this month in Trinidad and Tobago.

Notable inclusions in the squad are all-rounder Jason Smith and fast bowler Kwena Maphaka, who have both earned maiden call-ups to the national team. Smith, a hard-hitting middle-order batsman, has impressed with his performances in domestic cricket, while Maphaka, a promising 18-year-old, was the Player of the Tournament at the ICC U19 Men’s World Cup 2024.

Head Coach Rob Walter expressed his enthusiasm for the squad, stating, 

"This series offers a valuable opportunity to continue developing our player pool while maintaining a core of experienced players. The inclusion of Jason and Kwena is testament to their exceptional performances, and we look forward to seeing them contribute to the team."

The squad will be looking to build on the momentum from previous series as they face a formidable West Indian side.
